Tinubu Urges Governors to Prioritize Essential Projects

President Bola Tinubu challenged state governors to direct their rising revenues towards projects that improve the living conditions of ordinary Nigerians. Speaking to a delegation of Oyo State traditional rulers at the Presidential Villa, he criticized governors for poor performance despite increased allocations.

He urged them to focus on building functional road networks and enhancing security rather than constructing unnecessary flyovers. With the Federation Account allocations reaching N3.007 trillion in August 2026, following N2.551 trillion in June, Tinubu's demand for accountability from governors is justified.

The Centre for the Promotion of Private Enterprise, led by Dr Muda Yusuf, supported this stance, noting that while economic reforms have strengthened government revenue, the true test lies in their impact on investment, job creation, and poverty reduction. The CPPE called for citizens to demand measurable outcomes from their governments.
