Deputy Speaker's Office Responds to TrackNG on Bende Project

The Office of the Deputy Speaker of Nigeria issued a statement countering claims made by the civic organization TrackNG concerning the Bende Project. The Deputy Speaker's special assistant for press affairs, Udora Orizu, clarified that the Deputy Speaker does not serve as the procuring or implementing authority for constituency projects.

The statement emphasized that the office typically does not respond to public allegations to avoid misunderstandings regarding its legislative role in constituency projects. It also addressed concerns raised by TrackNG about the project's implementation, stating that the project is located at Bende Secondary Grammar School, which was initially misidentified.

A corrigendum has already been issued to correct the project's intended location. The Deputy Speaker's office called on relevant procuring authorities to investigate the matter and ensure accountability and adherence to due process regarding the project.
