Aondoakaa Condemns Blockade of Peter Obi's Convoy

Chief Michael Aondoakaa, SAN, the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in Benue State, condemned the blockade of Peter Obi's convoy in Makurdi, describing it as a disgraceful assault on democracy and a violation of Nigerians' constitutional rights. In a statement issued on Tuesday by his Media Assistant, James Ian, Aondoakaa asserted that the Constitution guarantees every citizen the right to freedom of movement and political participation.

He referenced President Bola Tinubu's emphasis on the need for political leaders to travel freely across the country to engage with citizens ahead of the 2027 general elections. Aondoakaa criticized the incident as contrary to the spirit of democratic competition and a violation of a recently signed peace accord among political actors.

He expressed concern that such actions portray Benue State negatively and do not reflect the values of its hospitable people. Aondoakaa lamented the state's inability to prevent violence against its citizens while allowing political intimidation against visitors.
