Woman in Benue State Burns Lover's Daughters to Death

On July 6, 2026, in the Kaff area of Zaki Biam, Ukum Local Government Area, Benue State, a woman identified as Mbayegh reportedly set her lover's two daughters on fire after a disagreement. According to local sources, the incident occurred early in the morning when the woman visited her lover, Aondoyima Ierkwagh, who had locked his daughters in a hut while he was away.

The woman, allegedly angered by Ierkwagh's refusal to let her stay, set the hut ablaze while the children were sleeping inside. The daughters were burnt beyond recognition.

Udem Edet, a spokesperson for the state command, confirmed the incident, stating that the father of the deceased girls reported the case to the police. Neighbors attempted to rescue the girls and rushed them to the hospital, but they did not survive.

The police have initiated an investigation into the matter, and the suspect's arrest is currently ongoing.
