Segilola Resources Transforms Community Healthcare in Nigeria

Segilola Resources Operating Limited (SROL) has been conducting a medical outreach initiative for four years in the communities of Imogbara, Odo Ijesha, and Iperindo in Osun State, Nigeria. This year, the outreach provided free consultations, surgeries, diagnostic tests, medications, and corrective eyeglasses to more than 10,000 people.

Despite this achievement, SROL recognizes that a single annual clinic cannot address the ongoing health crisis in Nigeria, particularly the rise of chronic non-communicable diseases (NCDs) such as hypertension, diabetes, and cardiovascular diseases. In 2021, NCDs accounted for over 43 million deaths globally, with low- and middle-income countries like Nigeria facing the highest rates of premature deaths.

In Nigeria, the prevalence of hypertension is estimated at 30%, while diabetes affects around 6% of the population. Many individuals remain unaware of their conditions, and access to continuous healthcare is hindered by long travel distances and high treatment costs.
