NBMA Partners NOUN to Enhance Bio-safety Education

The National Bio-safety Management Agency (NBMA) has partnered with the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) to strengthen bioscience education and ensure public confidence in modern biotechnology. This partnership aims to establish a training program focused on bio-safety, bio-security, and bio-risk management.

Mr. Bello Bawa Bwari, the Director General of NBMA, emphasized the importance of this initiative at a critical time when advancements in biotechnology are rapidly transforming various sectors, including agriculture and medicine.

The training will equip participants with technical knowledge and skills, fostering a professional network to disseminate learned information. Prof.

Uduma Uduma, Vice Chancellor of NOUN, highlighted the agency's regulatory advisory role in ensuring safe biotechnology practices. The collaboration, formalized through a Memorandum of Understanding signed on October 29, 2025, includes workshops and internship opportunities aimed at enhancing the capacity of students and staff.
