Bomb Blast in Zamfara Kills Six, Injures Eight Others

On Thursday, a bomb explosion occurred along the Bagega-Anka road in Zamfara, resulting in the deaths of at least six individuals and injuries to eight others, including women and children. The incident involved a Volkswagen Golf saloon car that was transporting passengers when it struck an improvised explosive device.

Emergency response teams arrived at the scene approximately 20 minutes after the explosion. The injured victims, which included six men, were taken to the primary healthcare center in Bagega for treatment.

A resident of Bagega, whose brother was among the injured, confirmed the incident but requested anonymity due to security concerns. Yazid Abubakar, a spokesperson for the Zamfara State Police Command, did not respond to calls or messages seeking comments regarding the incident.

The area surrounding Anka has been identified as a hotspot for terrorist and bandit activities, with reports indicating that at least six explosive-related incidents have occurred in the state this year, particularly along the Tsafe-Funtua highway.
