FG Launches Key Road Projects in Borno State

On Saturday, the Federal Government of Nigeria officially launched the Dikwa-Ngala and Bama-Banki road projects in Borno State, reaffirming its commitment to rebuilding critical infrastructure in the northeast. The projects, described as strategic investments, aim to enhance security and stimulate economic activity, facilitating post-insurgency recovery.

The ceremony was represented by Vice President Kashim Shettima, who noted that poor road conditions increase transport costs and disrupt trade, ultimately affecting household expenses and access to essential services. The Minister of Works, Dave Umahi, disclosed that the Dikwa-Ngala road project covers 32.25 kilometers with a revised contract value of ₦67 billion, while similar adjustments were made for the Bama-Banki road project.

Both projects were initially awarded in 2021 but faced delays due to insecurity. Governor Babagana Umara Zulum of Borno State expressed gratitude for the federal commitment and highlighted the importance of infrastructure in rebuilding communities affected by insurgency.

Aliko Dangote's contributions to humanitarian efforts were also acknowledged.
