Troops Rescue 10 NECO Candidates from ISWAP Terrorists

On Monday, the Nigerian Army disclosed that troops successfully rescued 10 candidates and teachers from the National Examinations Council (NECO) who were abducted by ISWAP terrorists during an attack in Lassa Community, Askira Uba Local Government Area, Borno State. The attack occurred while the students were writing their NECO examinations.

Following the incident, the military launched a coordinated search and rescue operation, deploying troops and utilizing air components for intelligence surveillance and reconnaissance. The troops tracked the fleeing terrorists to the Daggu area, engaging in a fierce gun battle that led to the successful rescue of the victims without harm.

The rescued candidates and teachers are currently receiving appropriate care and support. The military continues efforts to rescue remaining abducted victims and apprehend those responsible for the attack.

During the operation, troops reportedly outmaneuvered the terrorists, inflicting casualties and recovering seven motorcycles used during the attack.
