Oyo Rescue Operation: Conflicting Accounts Explained

Denni Amachree, a former Assistant Director of the Department of State Services (DSS), commented on the conflicting accounts of the recent rescue operation involving schoolchildren and a teacher in Oyo, Nigeria. He suggested that both the Federal Government's version and the terrorists' narrative could be accurate due to the fluidity of the situation on the ground.

Amachree explained that the terrorists may have promised to release the captives as Nigerian troops surrounded them, cutting off their food supplies and limiting their options. He emphasized that the operation's details should be shared with the public, as many people remain skeptical about the security agencies' effectiveness.

Amachree also noted that similar operations in the past have remained classified, which contributes to public distrust. He urged for more transparency from security agencies to inform the public about ongoing military operations and the existence of terrorist groups.
