APC Waives Screening for Tinubu Ahead of Primaries

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has officially waived the presidential screening requirements for Bola Ahmed Tinubu. This decision was made during the party's National Working Committee (NWC) 188th meeting held on May 6, 2026.

The waiver was granted pursuant to the powers conferred upon the NWC under Article 13, sections 4 (xiii) and (xiv) of the APC constitution, allowing for special circumstances to be considered in the best interest of the party. The NWC noted that President Tinubu received overwhelming endorsements and votes of confidence from critical stakeholders, including the Progressive Governors Forum (PGF) leadership and members of the National Assembly.

The APC also highlighted that the incumbent president, as the party leader, had already been screened, making the physical appearance requirement for the screening committee redundant and unnecessary ahead of the 2022 presidential primaries.
