Former Senator Bello Mandiya Passes Away at 62

Bello Mandiya, a former senator who represented the Katsina South Senatorial District, died on Monday in Abuja at the age of 62. The government confirmed his death on Monday evening.

Ibrahim Mohammed, the chief press secretary to Governor Dikko Radda, announced that Mandiya's burial would take place on Tuesday. The cause of death has not been disclosed.

Governor Radda expressed shock at the news, stating that Mandiya's passing is a significant loss not only to Katsina State but to the entire nation. He extended condolences to Mandiya's family, former Katsina State Governor Aminu Masari, the people of Katsina South, his political associates, and former Senate colleagues.

Radda also prayed for the repose of Mandiya's soul and for strength for those he left behind. Prior to his election to the Senate in 2019 on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, Mandiya served as chief of staff to former Katsina Governor Aminu Masari until his tenure ended in 2023.
