BREAKING: INEC includes SDP candidates in bye-elections, gives reasons

INEC has announced that Social Democratic Party (SDP) candidates will be included in the upcoming bye-elections in 12 states following a ruling by the Federal High Court in Abuja. The decision was confirmed in a statement by INEC's National Commissioner and Chairman of Information and Voter Education Committee, Sam Olumekun.

The court had ordered the inclusion of SDP candidates after the party was initially excluded for failing to submit a valid notice of primary election. INEC assured voters that this decision would not disrupt the polls scheduled for Saturday, August 16, 2025, in the affected states.

However, the commission also mentioned that it reserves the right to appeal the court's judgement.
