Ondo Assembly to Decide Speaker's Fate Over Fund Scandal

The Ondo State House of Assembly is preparing to determine the fate of Speaker Olamid Oladiji and Deputy Speaker Ololad Gbegudu following their failure to resign amid allegations concerning the diversion of N44 million from the Ondo State Oil Producing Area Development Commission (OSOPADEC). Reports indicate that Oladiji had considered resigning due to mounting pressure but ultimately did not.

The assembly received the N44 million, which was allegedly diverted without informing its members. Sources suggest that the assembly may discuss the matter publicly if the Speaker does not resign.

Additionally, Clerk of the House Benjamin Jaiyeola is implicated in the mishandling of the funds and is reportedly facing redeployment. The situation has led to disappointment among lawmakers who expected Oladiji to honorably resign.
