PDP to Ratify Jonathan's Candidacy Amid Wike's Threats

The People's Democratic Party (PDP) has announced its intention to proceed with the ratification of former President Goodluck Jonathan's presidential candidacy at a scheduled venue in Abuja, despite warnings from Nyesom Wike, the Federal Capital Territory Minister. Wike had previously threatened to shut down the event, cautioning venue owners against hosting political gatherings that are not recognized by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

He emphasized that compliance with INEC regulations is mandatory and warned that failure to adhere could result in the revocation of land titles for properties involved. In response, Seyi Makinde, the Oyo State Governor, and a faction of the PDP accused Wike of suppressing political opposition.

The PDP's event is set to take place at a designated event center in Wuse 2, Abuja, with assurances that all necessary security measures have been arranged and payments made to relevant agencies.
