Thugs Disrupt PDP Meeting for Jonathan's Candidacy

A ratification meeting for former President Goodluck Jonathan's candidacy for the People's Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2027 general elections was disrupted by thugs in Abuja. The meeting, held at the PDP's Area 10 office, was attended by party officials and led by Turaki.

Security personnel had been deployed to the area due to prior concerns. However, shortly after Turaki concluded his remarks, two buses filled with armed thugs arrived and launched a violent attack on the officials, forcing them to flee for safety.

Journalists present also faced threats, with one having their mobile phone snatched. Turaki condemned the violence, emphasizing the party's commitment to a peaceful electoral process and urging members to resist provocations.

He stated that the party would fight through the ballot box rather than through violence, reinforcing the importance of maintaining peace and unity within the PDP as they approach the elections.
