Police Seal Venue for Jonathan's PDP Endorsement Event

On Friday night, police sealed the venue in Wuse 2, Abuja, designated for the People's Democratic Party (PDP) endorsement of former President Goodluck Jonathan as a presidential candidate. This action followed threats from Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), against the event organized by a faction led by Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde.

The Makinde faction vowed to proceed with the endorsement despite warnings from Wike, who had previously issued a direct warning to the venue owner against hosting events for politically unrecognized factions. The FCT administration, represented by Wike's media aide Lere Olayinka, justified the police presence as necessary to maintain public peace and threatened to revoke land titles for violations.

The Makinde faction accused Wike of using state power to suppress opposition groups, while Ini Ememobong confirmed that the event venue faced threats of total business shutdown.
