Troops Rescue 48 Residents from Bandit Attack in Zamfara

In the early hours of Sunday, troops from the Joint Task Force North West, under Operation FANSAN YAMMA, successfully rescued 48 residents who had been abducted during a bandit attack in Magami village, Kaura Namoda Local Government Area, Zamfara State. The operation was initiated after intelligence indicated that heavily armed terrorists, riding approximately 40 motorcycles, had invaded the community, taken hostages, and were preparing to transport them into the forest.

Upon receiving a distress call, the troops confronted the attackers, resulting in a fierce gun battle that forced the bandits to abandon the captives and flee into nearby bushes. Tragically, one civilian was killed, and two others sustained gunshot wounds during the invasion; the injured were evacuated to the General Hospital in Kaura Namoda for treatment.

Following the rescue, the military intensified security operations in the area to prevent further attacks. The Theatre Command praised the soldiers for their professionalism and urged public cooperation in providing intelligence to combat banditry.
