Burkina Faso Appoints Amir Abdou as New Head Coach

The Burkina Faso Football Federation has officially unveiled Amir Abdou as the new head coach of the national football team, following the team's disappointing early exit from the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations held in Morocco. Abdou, a 53-year-old Comorian, replaces Brama Traor, whose tenure ended after the team's performance prompted introspection within the federation.

The decision to appoint Abdou was confirmed on March 1, 2026, after a rigorous examination process that considered various profiles. Abdou is recognized for his successful leadership of the Comoros national football team, guiding them to the knockout stage of the Africa Cup of Nations for the first time in 2021.
