Burna Boy and Shakira Collaborate for World Cup Song

Burna Boy has teamed up with Shakira for the official theme song of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, titled "Dai Dai," which is scheduled for release on May 8. This collaboration comes as Nigeria's national football team, the Super Eagles, failed to qualify for the tournament after a disappointing performance in the group qualifiers and subsequent playoffs.

The 2026 World Cup will be hosted by three countries: America, Canada, and Mexico, with a financial reward of $871 million for participating teams. Each team will receive $11.4 million just for participating in the tournament.

Despite the Super Eagles' absence, Burna Boy's involvement in the World Cup theme song reflects a significant moment for Nigerian music, following in the footsteps of other Nigerian artists like Davido, who collaborated on the 2022 World Cup soundtrack. Burna Boy has also performed at major events, including the 2023 UEFA Champions League final.
