CAF Inspects Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania for PAMOJA 2027 AFCON Preparations

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has commenced an inspection tour of Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania in preparation for the groundbreaking PAMOJA 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament. This tournament will mark a significant milestone in African football as it moves away from the biennial format to a new four-year cycle.

The three East African nations secured the hosting rights for AFCON 2027 after beating a joint bid from Nigeria and Benin Republic. CAF has deployed a team of technical experts to assess the readiness of the host countries, with the inspection program running until February 17.

The inspections include evaluating stadium quality, training facilities, pitch standards, safety, security, and overall infrastructure at proposed match venues. In Tanzania, the inspection began in Dar es Salaam and will extend to Arusha and Zanzibar, assessing venues like the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium, Samia Suluhu Stadium, Amaan Stadium, and Fumba Stadium.

In Kenya, the inspection program covers facilities in Nairobi, including Kasarani Stadium, Nyayo Stadium, Talanta Sport Stadium, Ulinzi Sport Complex, and Kenya Academi Sport. Uganda's inspection includes facilities in Entebbe, Kampala, and Hoima, such as Mandela National Stadium and Hoima City Stadium.
