CANAL+ to Broadcast Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games

CANAL+ has confirmed that it will broadcast the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games live on SuperSport, providing access to DStv and GOtv subscribers across Sub-Saharan Africa. The event is scheduled from July 23 to August 2, 2026, in Glasgow, Scotland, featuring over 500 African athletes competing in 10 sports and six para sports.

SuperSport will offer dedicated coverage, including a curated feed focusing on African medal contenders. In Nigeria, coverage will be available on SS Africa 1 and SS Africa 2, which will be temporarily rebranded as SS Commonwealth 1 and SS Commonwealth 2 during the Games.

David Mignot, CEO of CANAL+ Africa and MultiChoice, expressed satisfaction in securing the broadcast rights, emphasizing the focus on African athletes. Notable Nigerian athletes include Tobi Amusan, Folashade Oluwafemiayo, Esther Oyema, and Chukwuebuka Enekwechi.

Other prominent African athletes expected to compete include sprinters Benjamin Azamati and Abdul-Rasheed Saminu from Ghana, and Olympic champion Soufiane El Bakkali from Morocco.
