Glasgow to Host 2026 Commonwealth Games from July 23

The 2026 Commonwealth Games are scheduled to occur in Glasgow, Scotland, from July 23 to August 2, 2026. This edition will feature fewer sports and athletes than previous Games but is considered crucial for the Commonwealth movement's future.

Athletes from 74 Commonwealth nations, including Nigeria, are expected to compete over 11 days, showcasing sporting excellence and cultural diversity. Originally awarded to Victoria, Australia, the Games were relocated to Glasgow after the Australian state government withdrew in 2023 due to rising costs.

Glasgow, having hosted the Commonwealth Games in 2014, will utilize existing facilities to minimize expenses and maintain international standards.
