What Network, the free-to-air broadcast platform of What Media Group (WMG), has expanded its media rights across Sub-Saharan Africa, excluding South Africa, to provide live coverage of the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow. The coverage will be available for free streaming on What.tv, marking a significant milestone for the African-owned broadcaster.

This initiative aims to deliver live sports coverage to audiences who have previously depended on international broadcasters or paid services. ChiChi Nwoko, CEO of What Media Group, stated, “Africa deserves a front-row seat to global sports,” emphasizing that this expansion allows millions more Africans to watch the Commonwealth Games live on a platform designed for them.

The rights expansion is part of WMG's role as the Official Free-to-Air Broadcaster for the 2026 Commonwealth Games and is complemented by original programming, including shows like Kids Say The Darndest Things and Project Runway Africa, reflecting the platform's ambition to broaden its content offerings.
