CCCRA Defends AIG Jimoh Against Mohbad Investigation Claims

The Coalition of Core Civil Rights Activists (CCCRA) held a press conference in Lagos on Monday, defending Assistant Inspector-General of Police Olohundare Moshood Jimoh against allegations related to the investigation of singer Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, known as Mohbad, who died on September 12, 2023. CCCRA's spokesperson, Comrade Chief Declan Ihekaire, labeled the allegations as "cheap blackmail and lies," aimed at damaging the reputations of senior police officers and obstructing justice in the Ajiran killings case.

Ihekaire detailed the timeline of police commissioners in Lagos State, stating that Jimoh was not in office when Mohbad died, as he assumed the role of Commissioner of Police on February 18, 2025. The coalition emphasized that the Nigeria Police Force has established protocols for investigations and accused individuals facing prosecution of attempting to blackmail Jimoh.

They vowed to continue pursuing justice in the Ajiran killings, dismissing the allegations against Jimoh as unfounded.
