Youth Alliance Defends AIG Olohundare Against Allegations

The South West Youth Alliance (SWYA) issued a statement condemning efforts to undermine Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) Jimoh Olohundare, labeling the campaign against him as a calculated misinformation and character assassination. The alliance insists that senior police officers, including Olohundare, are not corrupt and do not threaten Nigeria's justice system.

They specifically addressed allegations made by social media activist Martin Vincent Ots, known as VDM, asserting that these claims are reckless and designed to undermine ongoing murder trials. The SWYA highlighted the arrest of Ahm Tajudeen Akanbi, a 38-year-old businessman, in connection with the alleged murder of two individuals in Lagos State.

The alliance noted that Akanbi was apprehended in Cotonou, Republic of Benin, and emphasized that the police investigation is based on credible evidence, including confessions from suspects already in custody. They defended the integrity of the police investigation led by Superintend Polic Adamu, which has received recognition for dismantling criminal networks in Lagos State.
