Eric Chelle Yet to Sign New Deal Amid Club Interest

Eric Chelle, the current head coach of Nigeria's national football team, has not signed a new contract with the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) despite ongoing discussions. The NFF chairman, Shehu Dikko, announced that an agreement was reached to improve Chelle's deal, allowing him to continue leading Nigeria as they prepare for the 2030 FIFA World Cup qualifiers and the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

However, BBC journalist Oluwashina Okeleji reported that Chelle has yet to sign the proposed contract, attracting interest from the Algerian Football Federation and several North African clubs. Chelle's current contract, which he signed upon his appointment, is expected to expire around December 2026 or January 2027.

He has expressed a desire to remain in charge of the Super Eagles, aiming to improve the team's performance after failing to qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Chelle reportedly seeks a monthly salary of $130,000, while the NFF is preparing to offer $100,000 per month.
