CMDs Urge Enhanced Security After Maiduguri Bomb Attacks

Following recent bomb attacks in Maiduguri, Borno State, the Committee of Chief Medical Directors, led by Prof. Saad AHM, has called for strengthened security measures around healthcare facilities.

The attacks, which occurred in areas including the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital, were described as deeply troubling and unacceptable. Prof.

AHM condemned the violence, stating that it undermines the neutrality of healthcare and threatens lives, eroding human dignity. He emphasized that hospitals should remain safe spaces dedicated to saving lives and delivering essential medical services.

The committee urged the federal government and relevant security agencies to intensify efforts to enhance security architecture, particularly around critical public infrastructure. They expressed condolences to the families of the victims and reaffirmed their commitment to supporting initiatives aimed at protecting healthcare infrastructure and ensuring uninterrupted healthcare service delivery across the country.
