Nigerian Army Commissions Welfare Projects in Port Harcourt

On a recent Friday, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) of the Nigerian Army, commissioned several welfare projects at the headquarters of the 6 Division in Port Harcourt. These projects are part of a broader initiative to enhance the living and working conditions of soldiers, reflecting the Army's "soldier-first" philosophy.

The newly constructed facilities include accommodation blocks for soldiers and the Python Soldier Club, which is dedicated to fostering a healthy social environment for troops. Colonel Appolonia Anel, the Acting Director of Army Public Relations, described these projects as strategic investments aimed at boosting personnel welfare and morale, which are critical for operational effectiveness.

Lieutenant General Shaibu emphasized that providing decent and secure accommodation for personnel and their families is a priority, as improved living conditions directly contribute to higher morale and better administrative efficiency. The projects also aim to strengthen unit cohesion and support the Nigerian Army's mission to address evolving security challenges in the country.
