Nigerian Army Chief: Soldiers Are Key Asset for Security

During the first bi-annual conference of the Nigerian Army held at the Nigerian Army Conference Centre in Asokoro, Abuja, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, the Chief of Army Staff, declared that soldiers are the most critical asset of the Nigerian Army. He stressed that courage, discipline, and sacrifice form the foundation of the Army's operational effectiveness and success in safeguarding the nation.

The conference gathered senior officers, including principal staff officers and field command heads, to review operational activities from the first half of the year and define strategic priorities for the upcoming months. Shaibu directed commands across operational theaters to adopt and implement a renewed counter-terrorism approach to sustain efforts in defeating insurgency and restoring peace and security across the country.

He noted that the conference provided a platform to assess preparedness and examine emerging security threats, emphasizing the need for innovative solutions. Shaibu also highlighted the importance of soldier welfare, including timely payment, healthcare services, and educational support, as essential for enhancing combat effectiveness.
