Medical Laboratory Science Council Inducts 43 Graduates

The Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria inducted 43 medical laboratory science graduates from Fountain University, Osogbo, Osun State, on October 10. The council's Registrar, Dr Donald Ofili, represented by Dr Akinwale Akinlabi, urged the graduates to complete a compulsory one-year internship before enrolling in the National Youth Service Corps.
He emphasized the importance of maintaining professional standards, as medical laboratory science is crucial to the healthcare system, providing about 70 percent of clinical decision-making data. Ofili warned that failing to complete the internship would be considered quackery.
He also highlighted the need for continuous professional development for license renewal. Fountain University's Vice-Chancellor, Prof Ramota Karim, noted the university's 100 percent success rate in professional examinations since 2024 and mentioned the completion of a dedicated Medical Laboratory Science Complex.
Prof Oluyemi Akinloye, represented by Prof Oloruntoba Ekun, delivered the induction lecture, urging graduates to uphold integrity and collaborate with other healthcare professionals.
