Concerns As Flood Destroys Bridges, Houses, Farmlands In Kebbi

Severe flooding in Kebbi State has caused extensive damage to bridges, houses, and farmlands, disrupting the movement of residents and crippling the farming community. The disaster, which occurred on Thursday, washed away a bridge in Fana township and another road, cutting off access to the area.

The Deputy Governor of Kebbi State led a government delegation to visit the affected villages in Dandi and Suru Argungu LGAs, offering condolences and announcing immediate relief efforts. The government has approved the release of funds for emergency relief and plans to reconstruct the collapsed bridge to restore access.

Additionally, an IDP camp in Argungu will receive additional aid. Local officials confirmed significant damage, with one person losing their life and many homes and farms destroyed.

The swift response of the government has been commended, with promises of continued support for relief and recovery efforts from both local officials and the Emir of Argungu.
