Atiku Abubakar's Suit Against Tinubu Set for Hearing

The Federal High Court in Abuja has scheduled a hearing for October 13, 2026, regarding an application by Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), to amend his suit challenging President Bola Tinubu's eligibility for the 2027 presidential election. Justice Inyang Ekwo set the date after lawyers for both parties appeared to regularize their processes in case number FHC/ABJ/CS/1888/2026.

Atiku and the ADC are seeking to disqualify Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress (APC) based on allegations that a forged National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) discharge certificate was submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). During proceedings, Atiku's counsel, Joseph Silas, noted he had not received Tinubu's counter affidavit, while Chief Wole Olanipekun, SAN, representing Tinubu, confirmed it had been served on September 24.

The defendants, Tinubu and the APC, deny the allegations and argue the suit is incompetent. INEC has also challenged the suit's competence, citing several legal issues.
