CRAN Commends Police for Peaceful Osun Election

The Crime Reporters Association of Nigeria (CRAN) commended Inspector-General of Police Olatunji Disu and the Nigeria Police Force for their role in ensuring a peaceful and violence-free election in Osun State. In a statement signed by CRAN President Olalekan Olabulo, the association noted the successful management of the election amid heightened political tension.

CRAN praised the police and other security agencies for maintaining order and protecting citizens, highlighting the strategic deployment of personnel, proactive identification of hotspots, and intelligence-led policing as key factors in preventing violence. The association emphasized the importance of discipline and restraint among officers, advocating for a firm yet fair approach to electoral security.

CRAN urged the Nigeria Police Force to sustain the standards achieved in Osun by reviewing lessons learned and enhancing collaboration with the Independent National Electoral Commission, other security agencies, political stakeholders, civil society organizations, and the media. They also called on political actors to promote peace and respect electoral processes.
