Makinde Advocates Opposition Coalition for 2027 Elections

Seyi Makinde, the presidential candidate of the Allied People’s Movement (APM) and Governor of Oyo State, announced on Thursday at the APM national convention in Bauchi that the party will collaborate with other opposition political parties to offer Nigerians a credible alternative in the upcoming 2027 general elections. He stressed the importance of a strong opposition for sustaining democracy and urged the party's new leadership to work together with other opposition parties.

Makinde emphasized that the 2027 election should focus on measurable outcomes rather than mere political slogans and campaign promises. He criticized the current assessment of governance based on announcements rather than tangible improvements in citizens' lives.

Makinde called for a political system that restores trust between leaders and citizens and advocated for a stronger federal structure that brings decisions and resources closer to the people, ensuring greater accountability.
