Cross River Governor Otu Supports SPAR Fire Victims

Governor Bassey Otu of Cross River State assured victims of the fire outbreak at the SPAR shopping complex in Calabar of the state government's full support. During his visit on Saturday, represented by Deputy Governor Peter Odey, Otu expressed deep concern for those affected and promised immediate intervention to help businesses recover.

He noted that while the exact cause of the fire is still under investigation, preliminary indications suggest a possible electrical fault. The Director-General of the Cross River State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) has begun assessing the damage and identifying the immediate needs of victims.

Otu emphasized that the government aims to provide practical support to help affected businesses resume operations quickly. He also stated that measures would be taken to prevent future incidents.

The governor commended the Cross River State Fire Service for their prompt response to the emergency.
