Cross River State Revokes Lands of Prominent Individuals

The Cross River State government has officially revoked land allocations for several individuals, including former Humanitarian Affairs Minister Beta Edu, Deputy Governor Peter Odei, and others, due to unauthorized developments along the water board pipeline corridor in Calabar. The revocation notice, signed by Chief Dr.

Franci Ekpenyong, was issued on June 16, 2026, and mandates that affected property owners cease all development activities immediately and remove any structures within 30 days of receiving the notice. The reasons for the revocation include obstructing critical public infrastructure, posing significant risks to water supply operations, and failure to pay prescribed ground rent and statutory charges.

The government warned that non-compliance could lead to further enforcement actions, including demolition of illegal structures and recovery of outstanding liabilities.
