INEC Chairman Amupitan Condemns Electoral Malpractices

Professor Joash Ojo Amupitan, the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), issued a strong statement against ballot box snatching and result manipulation, affirming INEC's commitment to delivering credible elections in 2027. This declaration was made during a courtesy visit to the National Orientation Agency (NOA), where he met with its Director General, Mallam Lanr Issa Onilu.

Dr. Augustu Maduka Obum, the spokesman for a civil society organization, praised Amupitan's remarks as a bold reassurance to Nigerians.

The statement highlighted the deployment of technology to protect votes and called for collaboration from political parties, civil society organizations, and the media to support INEC's efforts. Amupitan, noted for his legal expertise, urged all political actors to respect the electoral process and avoid actions that could undermine Nigeria's democracy.
