Daniel's BATOGD Movement Boycotts Ogun APC Primaries

The BATOGD Movement, led by Otunba Gbenga Daniel, a former governor of Ogun State, has declared its intention to boycott the All Progressives Congress (APC) primary elections for the Ogun East senatorial district, set for May 18, 2026. The decision follows allegations of a plot by agents of the state government to unleash violence against Daniel's supporters.

The movement's statement, signed by 35 members, expresses concerns over the safety of participants and criticizes the current political climate, stating that it has witnessed threats and intimidation against their supporters. Daniel has advised his supporters to stay away from the primaries, emphasizing the need for safety.

In response, the Ogun State government, represented by Kayod Akinmad, dismissed the allegations as baseless, asserting that the government prioritizes peace and has no intention of inciting violence. The APC has also endorsed Olamilekan Adeola as its consensus candidate for the Ogun East senatorial ticket.
