Edo Government Denies Davido Entry Ban Claims

The Edo State Government has refuted claims that music star David Adeleke, known as Davido, has been banned from entering the state. In a statement released on Friday, Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Prince Kassim Afegbua, described the alleged ban as the “handiwork of an impostor and fraud.” He emphasized that Edo is a welcoming place for everyone, regardless of their beliefs or political affiliations.

Afegbua noted that Governor Monday Okpebholo maintains positive relationships across various demographics and political divides. He referred to Davido as “one of our illustrious sons,” highlighting that the singer's mother is from Edo State.

The commissioner expressed that if Davido wishes to visit, the state would be pleased to host him. He clarified that any political disagreements arising from the recent governorship election in Osun State should not be misconstrued as personal disputes.

Afegbua also commended Davido for his contributions to the Nigerian music industry and his role in promoting Nigeria internationally.
