Edo Government Welcomes Davido, Denies Entry Ban Claims

The Edo State Government, represented by Commissioner for Information and Strategy Prince Kassim Afegbua, has refuted claims that music star David Adeleke, known as Davido, was banned from entering the state. In a statement released on Friday, Afegbua described the alleged ban as the “handiwork of an impostor and fraud,” emphasizing that Edo is a welcoming place for all individuals regardless of their beliefs or political affiliations.

He noted that Governor Monday Okpebholo maintains positive relationships across various demographic and political groups. Afegbua acknowledged Davido as “one of our illustrious sons,” highlighting that the singer's mother is from Edo State.

He expressed the government's willingness to collaborate with Davido for future performances. Furthermore, he clarified that any political disagreements arising from the recent governorship election in Osun State should not be misconstrued as personal conflicts, reiterating that there was nothing personal in the political discussions.
