Investigation Launched After Influencer's Death in Thailand

Igho "Tiny" Ubiribo, a Nigerian content creator based in London, died on March 6, 2023, after receiving hyaluronic acid injections at a Bangkok cosmetic clinic. He experienced chest pains and collapsed on March 5, with hospital staff performing CPR for 101 minutes before he was pronounced dead at 1:05 am.

An inquest hearing at Westminster Coroner's Court on August 21 linked his death to the injection and a pulmonary embolism. The clinic disclosed to Thai health investigators that Ubiribo had been a patient since 2024 and had undergone five penile enlargement procedures.

For the final session, a doctor suggested splitting the treatment into two appointments, but Ubiribo opted for a single session. He signed consent forms before each procedure and received aftercare guidance.

Thailand's Ministry of Public Health announced on September 7 that an investigation into the clinic's compliance with health standards is underway.
