Sokoto Bandit Attacks Leave Eight Dead, Many Displaced

The recent bandit attacks in Sokoto have resulted in a death toll of eight residents, according to Danchadi Alhaji Lirwanu Mafaran Kuwarun Sarkin Musulmi, the district head. In a telephone interview, he confirmed that several other residents have been displaced due to the violence.

The attacks have left the community in a state of trauma and fear, particularly among women searching for their husbands. This incident marks the first time the district has experienced such attacks, allegedly perpetrated by bandits from the neighboring Zamfara state.

The attacks have devastated the local community, prompting the traditional ruler to appeal to the Sokoto state government and security agencies to deploy personnel to restore peace and enable displaced residents to return home. The latest casualty figures indicate that the attacks have forced residents from 30 villages to flee, with approximately 1,000 livestock reportedly rustled during the incidents.
