Tambuwal Mourns Victims of Sokoto Bandit Attack

Aminu Tambuwal, the former governor of Sokoto State, expressed profound grief over a recent bandit attack in Dangulbi, Tureta Local Government Area, which occurred on June 1, 2026. The attack resulted in the deaths of at least 17 people, including seven visitors who were in the area for the Eid el-Kabir celebration.

Tambuwal condemned the killings and the destruction of property, describing the incident as a tragic reminder of the ongoing security challenges faced by communities in the state. He extended condolences to the families of the victims and prayed for the speedy recovery of the injured.

Tambuwal urged security agencies to intensify efforts to restore peace and protect vulnerable communities across Sokoto and Zamfara states. He called for sustained coordinated measures to tackle banditry and emphasized the need for residents to remain united in supporting legitimate efforts to end insecurity and restore peace.

The attack was characterized as an unacceptable assault on the safety and security of the community.
