Delta First Lady Donates Wheelchairs, Supports Autism Care

Deaconess Tobore Oborevwori, the wife of the Delta State governor and founder of the You Matter Foundation, donated 21 wheelchairs, physiotherapy toys, and assistive educational devices to children living with autism during a medical outreach in Kiagbodo, Burutu Local Government Area. Additionally, she provided N5 million for the urgent hip replacement surgery of 27-year-old Miss Ombe Egbaseimokum.

At the event, Oborevwori emphasized the importance of raising awareness about autism, promoting inclusion, and reducing stigma associated with children with special needs. She noted that Burutu is the fifth federal constituency to benefit from the Foundation's outreach, which has assisted over 520 children and their caregivers across the state.

Oborevwori condemned derogatory labels used for children with autism and urged communities to embrace them. The outreach also included free medical consultations and the distribution of 120 bags of rice to vulnerable households.

Julius Takeme, Chairman of Burutu Local Government Area, praised the initiative for its positive impact on riverine communities.
