Uzodinma Warns Democracy at Risk Without Strong Opposition

Hope Uzodinma, the Governor of Imo State, issued a warning regarding the state of Nigeria's democracy, stating it is at risk without a strong opposition. This statement followed the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential primary held on a Saturday, where Bola Tinubu was presented for a second term ticket.

Uzodinma emphasized that a democracy without opposition is no longer a democracy and urged opposition parties to work diligently to build structures capable of mounting credible challenges to the ruling party ahead of the 2027 general elections. He noted that the APC's grassroots dominance was evident, with significant membership registration efforts leading to a turnout of 35,000 members in local wards.

Uzodinma praised Tinubu's political conduct, asserting that he has done enough to deserve a second term and congratulated him on his achievements in the lead-up to the 2027 electoral cycle.
