NDC Confirms Participation in 2027 Elections Despite Court Ruling

Alhaji Abdullahi Maigari, the Bauchi State chairman of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), announced that the party will participate in the 2027 general elections, despite a recent ruling by the Federal High Court in Lokoja that deregistered the NDC. Maigari stated that the party remains legally recognized and fully operational, emphasizing that the NDC's legal team has already filed an appeal against the court's decision.

He described the ruling as a normal part of the ongoing judicial process and clarified that the appeal does not challenge the Independent National Electoral Commission's (INEC) registration of the NDC or its legal existence. Maigari noted that the NDC has successfully established a nationwide structure and conducted its congress, participating actively in INEC programs.

He urged party members to remain calm and united, warning against political intimidation and misinformation, while reaffirming the NDC's commitment to strengthening Nigeria's democracy and providing a credible alternative for voters.
