Gas Tanker Leak Contained on Ikorodu Road, No Casualties

A gas tanker leak occurred on Ikorodu Road in Lagos, prompting a swift response from the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA). The incident was reported early on Friday, with LASEMA's Tiger Squad discovering that the liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) tanker, registered as MU 289YH, was leaking approximately five tons of gas onto the street.

The leak developed suddenly, but the driver acted quickly to stop the vehicle, preventing a possible fire outbreak or explosion. Afolabi Olawal, spokesperson for LASEMA, confirmed that no casualties or injuries were reported during the incident.

Emergency responders collaborated with the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service and the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority to secure the area and divert traffic. They maintained a safe perimeter while repairs were conducted by certified technicians.

Dr. Olufemi Damilola Ok Osanyintolu urged motorists to cooperate with traffic management officials and avoid any activities that could ignite the gas.

LASEMA also dismissed false reports of a building collapse in the Alakija area.
