Lagos Fire Service Contain Major Fuel Tank Blaze

On July 3, 2026, a fire broke out at a 5 million-liter automotive gas oil storage tank belonging to Bono Energy, located within the Ibru Jetty Complex along the Apapa-Oworonshoki Expressway in Coconut Apapa, Lagos. The Lagos State Fire Rescue Service (LSFR) was alerted at 12:04 PM and responded promptly, with firefighting teams arriving at the scene by 12:16 PM.

The fire was successfully contained and extinguished by 1:54 PM, preventing it from spreading to adjacent facilities and critical infrastructure. No casualties were reported during the incident.

Margaret Adesey, a spokesperson for LSFR, confirmed that the cause of the fire is still under investigation. Earlier that day, there was also an emergency response to a liquefied petroleum gas tanker leak on Ikorodu Road, which did not result in any casualties.
