DLA Refunds N10.8m to Ex-Presidential Aspirant Akinnadeju

Abisayo Busari Akinnadeju, a former presidential aspirant, disclosed that the Democrat Leadership Alliance (DLA) refunded N10.8 million, which was the nomination fee she paid when she aspired for the presidency. This refund followed her withdrawal from the party's 2027 presidential race, which she announced in a statement made available to journalists on Friday.

Akinnadeju's resignation from the party on May 28 was based on accusations that the DLA leadership imposed a consensus presidential candidate, violating the Electoral Act. She emphasized that the refund of the N10.8 million, along with an outstanding N1.2 million yet to be paid, does not resolve her concerns regarding the party's primary process.

Akinnadeju stated that the party's actions were indefensible and that the refund should not be misconstrued as a resolution of the issues she raised about the integrity of the primary process. She thanked Nigerians for their support and highlighted the importance of fair participation in the political process.
